msp kwaliteit meten

How do you measure quality inside an MSP?

Quality in an MSP shows up in outcomes tracked over weeks, not in tickets and hours counted per day. Fast closure proves nothing if the same fault returns three weeks later in a bigger shape.

Why are tickets and hours no longer a measure of quality?

An AI tool now gets a pass mark on standard ticket handling. That means an engineer scored on ticket counts and hours logged is competing with an automated six. Real quality sits in preventing repeat incidents and in the state of the client environment over a longer period. That asks for continuous measurement, not a monthly report full of ticket volumes.

A six is something an AI tool can deliver too. As a person you have to score higher than that at the very least.

Frequently asked questions

Which KPIs replace tickets per day and hours logged?

A common direction is to steer on the repeat frequency of incidents per client, the average time between faults on the same asset, and the share of tickets that comes back within a fixed window of, say, three weeks. Those are outcome KPIs over time instead of activity KPIs per day. They show whether a fix was actually a fix.

How do you appraise an engineer when AI clears the standard tickets?

The appraisal shifts to what AI does badly: judging whether an incident is a symptom of something larger, communicating with the client, and making choices that solve structural problems. Engineers are judged on preventing future tickets, not on the speed with which they clear the current ones.

Why is 80% fast ticket handling misleading?

Speed only measures how quickly a ticket leaves the list. If 20% of those quickly handled tickets return within a few weeks as a bigger problem, the net contribution is negative. The client experiences more disruption and the MSP does the work twice. Only measurement over a longer period exposes that pattern.

How often should you measure quality inside an MSP?

Continuously, not per quarter. A monthly or quarterly report shows trends too late to adjust at individual or team level. Ongoing measurement of repeat incidents and client impact lets you spot patterns early and feed the appraisal conversation with current data instead of a snapshot.
